Tarte Shape Tape and Double Duty Powder review - Lipstick and Brunch

Try it Tuesday Beauty: Tarte Shape Tape Concealer & Confidence Creamy Powder

Raise your hand if you ‘ve tried to get your hands on Tarte’s Shape Tape Contour Concealer and it was sold out in your shade every single time last year? That would be me! I couldn’t find it online and then I found out it was exclusive at Ulta Beauty and it was sold-out for the longest time. But, I popped into Ulta a week ago and there it was, back in stock and even though it was not in my budget I bought it because #beautyjunkie #makeupismydrug and I #ihavenogoodexcuse etc. I already can’t resist Tarte’s superb formulation and pretty packaging in the first place and then the sales associate at Ulta shows me Tarte’s Confidence Creamy Powder which comes in a gorgeous gold packaging and royal purple bag, she tries it on me and makes me look like a pore-less wonder–well guess what? Bought that too!  Check out my extended reviews below which are just justifications for spending money on even more make-up I don’t need (according to my husband)! LOL

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer

Ever since this concealer hit the shelves everyone’s been raving about it! Did you know one of these concealers is sold every 26 seconds? Yikes! See why I had to have it? You can also use this concealer to contour if you purchase a darker shade but I wanted it to hide my under-eye bags, dark circles and any blemishes or spots so I bought a shade closer to my skintone. The formula is extremely creamy and pigmented so a little goes a long way. Even though the applicator picks up a lot of product, I would recommend using the wand for both eyes and not double dipping. My friend and beauty blogger Steffanie from Brighter, Darling had tried this concealer first and loved it and I trust her opinions because we have the same skin type and beauty tastes. She had told me that it photographed beautifully so being the selfie-queen that I am I got even more excited to try it. I bought this concealer and the next day I had a big photo-shoot for my blog and couldn’t believe that it withstood almost 5 hours of warm weather, being in-front of the camera and lots of smiling. At the end of the day, the concealer had not budged. Here’s a peek at one of those unretouched photos from my “Spring Mocktail” shoot with Sweet Life Bake. I’ll be sharing more photos and a post on these drinks soon!

Tarte Confidence Creamy Powder Powder

This was also an unplanned purchase but a very welcome one when I saw how the full-coverage creamy powder made my pores disappear on my oily-combination skin. When you have oily combination skin like mine, powders can crack on your face or look cakey but this was not the case.  I was even more happy when I found out this powder formula has anti-aging benefits (hello first wrinkles!). The sales associate used a dense brush to apply strategically on my T-Zone and get rid of shine but once I got home I went wild and applied with a larger, less dense powder brush and it looked lovely as well: airbrushed and still breathable. I also used this powder for the shoot I mentioned above and in the photo below and applied on all my face. Best part? Ulta Beauty has their 21 Days of Beauty sales going on and this powder normally costs $35 but is on sale for $20 which is definitely another good reason why I didn’t even hesitate to buy it. This product is exclusive to Ulta.

Have you tried any of these products? Any stellar concealer or powders I should check out? Let me know! It’s probably my favorite make-up product besides lipstick!
