Latin Brunch at Churrascos Sugar Land

**not a sponsored post**

One of the biggest things we have struggled with ever since we moved to Sugar Land with my husband is finding neat and trendy Sunday brunch spots. It seems the Houston metro area is drowned in choices and all we have here in suburbia are 3 or 4 cookie cutter places to go to with the usual waffles, huge cappuccinos, omelets and mimosas.

There are Sundays where we just want to hang out in our hood so we desperately Yelped, Googled and Facebooked alternate places around here until we found one that promised delicious Latin-American cuisine (I’m from Honduras and my hubby is Venezuelan) and Churrascos (part of the Cordua Restaurants) popped up. I was pleasantly surprised because in our year of living here we had no clue one of the Cordua restaurants was so close to us.

The Churrascos Sugar Land location is quite hidden and difficult to find if you’ve never been there but it is situated next to this beautiful lake overlooking the Hyatt Place. It’s got a patio covered with an awning for all those upcoming sunny day brunches.

The food was spectacular! There was salmon, chicken, yuca puffs, ceviche, ribs and home-made plantain chips with chimi-churri- a drool worthy and fresh menu that I prefer over any omelet or waffle brunch! Also, instead of a mimosa I had a crisp michelada (not pictured because I gulped it down!). They also have bacon, and an omelet and crepe station if you still want a more traditional brunch.

SAMSUNG CSCThe interior of the restaurant is unique, with a lot of wooden and metal details and structures. We preferred the patio because it was brighter and the day was beautiful.

SAMSUNG CSCBesides having an extensive buffet of tasty food, their dessert bar is pretty impressive. My favorite picks? Their melt in your mouth mini alfajores and their bite-size Tres Leches-THE BEST TRES LECHES ever might I add! I grew up in Honduras and we grew up knowing the Tres Leches recipe originated in Nicaragua (where The Corduas are from), not in Mexico like most  people believe,  and now I totally believe it after trying this perfect rendition of the dessert!

SAMSUNG CSCThere was even a cotton candy stand but I didn’t have one because my sweet tooth had been satiated! But if Mom has a sweet tooth you should know they are having a Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday May 9th. Better call and reserve your spot!
