Shorts / Jacket thrifted from Crossroads Trading (similar) / Glasses / Choker / Booties / Beautiful Braid c/o Blow Dry Bar Houston / Purse thrifted at The Cottage Shop
When I first moved to Texas from the tropical-Caribbean country of Honduras (where I go to the beach in December) I was expecting snow, big jackets and a lot of fireplaces (I was also expecting amazing public transportation but that’s another story!). The only thing I learned was that it’s unpredictable. Fall in Texas is like Summer in Texas: HOT! Hahaha. During this time of year, you’ll see Texans wearing flip-flop, shorts and a sweater or in my case, shorts and a floral bomber jacket. Transitioning into a Fall wardrobe in Houston happens very gradually.
Layering my chokers. Tip: Use a thick and thin one for a chic look.
This is one of my favorite looks ever that I’ve styled on the blog! This look is all me because it’s fun, colorful, comfortable and so affordable. I mean, this floral bomber jacket was a Zara steal at a thrift shop for only $15! I was lucky too because bomber jackets are so in right now.
Now let me tell you about these perfect-fitting shorts that I found at Target. They’re distressed, comfortable on my butt and I’ve washed and dried them a gazillion times and they still look perfect. I had talked before about being self–conscious about wearing shorts but these rest nicely on my hips and are loose on my thighs. These will be great with tights and boots whenever the cold weather decides to roll around Houston. I paired the shorts with these booties made out of a leather-like material that is stretchy and comfortable to wear all day long despite its heel.
So I also talked about having exciting news and that’s because I was meant to publish this post yesterday (but my computer crashed last night in case you didn’t catch my Facebook rant) but it’s still very exciting news to me to share that I was on TV this morning for a beauty segment…All.By.Myself. I have been on TV so many times before but something about this time felt different and that was because this is the first time I stood in front of a camera representing Lipstick and Brunch with no PR agency or fellow bloggers/friends physically alongside me and guiding me. Actually, my husband was there behind the scenes and I think he was more nervous than I was! Ha! he thinks I’m so cool because I get to talk on TV but what he doesn’t know is my tummy always makes a flop when I’m in front of a camera (I just keep it a secret). It made me giddy, anxious, nervous, happy and all full of adrenaline. Well I can tell you now that it all turned out perfectly fine! My Snapchat inundated with messages, Facebook posts of those friends out there that support my blogging venture and it made me feel so full and thankful. Just one more thing that I conquered today. I later found out that my segment had 26,000 viewers (WOWZA!) and it made me giddy and nervous all over again! Check out the segment here.
